The Popes comments are unfortunate and leave alot to be desired, - TopicsExpress

The Popes comments are unfortunate and leave alot to be desired, but its sad to see a Protestant agreeing so enthusiastically about that which he obviously has little clue. Paul Gordon Collier Conflating Christian responsibility to minister to and feed the poor with progressive Statist planning is dangerous and ungodly. This is a progressive tirade and nothing more. It equates conservatism with a ruthless indifference to the poor. While some pure capitalists might fall in that line of thinking, most conservatives do not. A welfare program that does not call on the able bodied poor to work is not justice but a form if economic slavery. Somehow trusting the state to altruistically manage the confiscated wealth for justified redistribution seems naive, at best. If we dont trust the morality free free market, why trust the state, who, unlike corporations, has the power of the gun to protect the corruption from within?
