The Power of Values. I know Im growing and thats not because suddenly the colour of my hair decided to betray me and turned grey. Its also not because my belt has now decided to conceal itself below my bulging tummy. Rather, I know that Im growing because I strive to live my life in accordance with a certain value system. Indeed it is a fact that those who have achieved great exploits in their fields did not do so without allegiance to a certain set of values. Values talk about what you hold to be IMPORTANT above everything, they are the substratum of your being. Everything you do is founded in values. Not knowing what your values are doesnt mean you dont have them, it just means you dont know you have them but they are there. The difference between successful people and failures is that; the former espouse values and they live according to them while the latter do not hence they fail. Sometimes people who fail do so because they inadvertently place much value on things that are contrary to success. So how would you know what your values are? 1.Your values are indicated by the time you spend on a thing. An example is when a person sits in front of a television and watches soapies the whole day instead of studying or spending time with their spouse or family. They spend a lot of time watching T.V because it is IMPORTANT to them. That reveals whats valuable to them. Values drive our lives because they are principles. And principles will always work whether you acknowledge them or not, whether you know them or you dont. 2. The things you prioritise reveal your values. The word priority talks about what comes FIRST. Your every decision is based on what is priority to you. Your priority is the very first thing on your list. Priority also speaks about importance. My call to all of us is that we make a careful, conscious, deliberate and sober decision to create for ourselves a value system which will ensure our success in all areas of our lives. Dollar Coined!
