The Premier and Treasurer of SA has just announced that the $8,500 grant for people buying new homes or building new homes in SA will be extended for another 6 months until the end of the year! What will this mean for our market place? Firstly, the grant is working. One of our clients works in this area and he told me last week he is flat out selling vacant land. Secondly, with such an incentive, my observation is that it is pulling buyers away from the established homes market. Not to say there are not still sales being made, but the number has dropped off, from what we can see. Less demand always means that we can expect to see prices soften. But there are always winners! For instance, this is a great time to be either buying an established home or building a new one in South Australia.
