The Prime Minister presents the report on the state of the Nation to the Parliament Today, the Prime Minister Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgye presented the report on the state of the nation to the Joint Sitting of the Parliament as per article 10(10) of the Constitution. The Prime Minister presented his report which highlighted on the importance of Tsa-Wa-Sum or the King, country and the people of Bhutan. The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo and His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo for their constant royal guidance and initiatives undertaken for the welfare of the country and the people. The report also stated on the current state of affairs of the country and the people and about the developmental plans of the new government. The Prime Minister said that since the government is just over two months old, the report was more focused on future plans rather than on the achievements of the government. Further, the Prime Minister said that he is hopeful that the people’s aspirations would be fulfilled in the 11th Plan with the blessings of Kenchog Sum and the royal guidance of His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo. He also expressed his gratitude to the International development partners and particularly to the government and people of India for their generous assistance for the 11th Five Year Plan. The Prime Minister concluded by asking the nation to remember the golden words of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo during his coronation speech in 1974 which stated that ”A little endeavor on the part of the people would be far better than a large effort put in by the government”. The First Session of the Second Parliament concludes tomorrow.
