The Prisoner (2013) - the first short film I shot as DOP at Brock won the best Cinematography award at the Chatham-Kent Film Festival....in February. Cool.cool.cool: The Prisoner took second place and won the cinematography award, impressing judges with great special effects and camera work. McDonald, who is a recent graduate of the film program at Brock University, said they shot the prison scenes in a basement with limited props. “All we had, really, was a bed and one of our buddies, he found a toilet in an alleyway, so we just used those two set pieces and we created the prison for the film,” he said. Along with shooting scenes using many different angles, a lot of post production effort went into the project.
