The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) that met here on Wednesday with Secretary Planning & Development Department, Syed Zafar Ali Shah in the chair approved 37 projects of worth Rs.9.155 billion in the sector of Infrastructure, Relief & Rehabilitation, food, home, sports & tourism, Elementary & Secondary Education, Higher Education, Health and Water. While considering 39 projects under various sectors the PDWP in its 8 hrs long session scrutinized each and every project and decided to approve 37 projects, subject to rationalization of cost in accordance with the prevailing policies and detailed decision of the PDWP. Approval of 02 projects was deferred for further improvement in the project document based on sound planning so that no issue is faced during the execution. The PDWP approved project includes ‘Traffic Warden System for Peshawar” under which the Traffic Police will be equipped with modern Equipments and vehicles at a cost of Rs. 125million. A total of 669 officers, well trained and educated will be inducted through Public Service Commission, into the existing 1300 staff of traffic police. E-challan system will be introduced to curb the corruption on road. The vehicle so provided will be colored in a specific way to avoid use of these vehicles for personal or other use. The forum also approved construction of weigh station at 18 food grain gowdowns to minimize the losses. Purchase of 100 kanal land at at cost of Rs. 310 million for construction of warehouse of NHCR was also approved. A provision of of 44 million was approved for provide land compensation for flood damaged schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the construction of which is already in progress with the financial assistance of Swiss Development Corporation (SDC). The project viz:” Impact Assessment / Validation of De-Radicalized Emancipation Program’ being executed by the Pak Army in Malakand area was also given extension of one year to spread the skill training for additional 280 youth in the terrorism hit area. The forum decided that third party validation of the project may be undertaken to attract more donor for creation of livelihood opportunities in the area. Next phase of the project will be executed by the Provincial Government itself. Other projects approved during the meeting includes, Central Library in Civil Secretariat, Revisin of Khan Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex Charsadda, Stipend for girls students of high and higher secondary classes in 07, Completion of PSDP Devolved Projects in District Shangla (GDC Puran & GGDCAlpuri), Construction/Re-Construction of boundary walls and provision of water supply to Govt Colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Strengthening of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar , Strengthening of Havelian Campus of Hazara University, GDC at Achini Payan District Peshawar (Revised), Govt Girls Degree Colleges at Khado khel Buner (Revised), GDC Kohi Daman District Peshawar (Revised), Improvement/Rehabilitation of Existing Health Facilities, Establishment of Nowshera Medical College, Nowshera, PC-II for Establishment of Z.A Bhutto Medical College Peshawar, PC-II for Establishment of Medical College at Timergarah Dir Lower, Upgradation of BHU Muhammad Nari to RHC,Charsadda (Revised ). Under water sector of Annual Development Program 2014-15, the forum approved the following projects :- 1. Construction of Flood Protection Structures to minimize flood devastation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa . 2. Revamping of Drainage Systems in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 3. Improvement of Roads along Canals and Drains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 4. Flood Management of Panjkora River and its tributaries in Districts Dir Lower and Dir Upper. 5. Improvement of Kabul River Canal System, District Nowshera and Peshawar. 6. Restoration of damaged super passage, causeway & construction of escape at RD 37000 Hazar Khwani Branch, District Peshawar. 7. Construction / Improvement of Small Irrigation Channels / Ponds in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Phase-II. 8. Providing & Restoration of bridges, VR Culverts/Causeways on Machai branch, PHLC, Maira branch and its sub system i.e. nullahs/drains in District Swabi. 9. Improvement of Canal Patrol Road along distributary No. 9 and Drain (Takhtbai Bypass), District Mardan. 10. Improvement of Rod Kohi System in Districts Tank,D.I.Khan, Karak and Lakki Marwat. The forum also cleared the following proejcts reflected in the Federal PSDP. 1. Flood Protection work along R/Side of Khyaee Swat River D/S Munda H.W fo the protection of village abadies and main doaba canal district charsada. 2. Construction of flood protection structures at village Kala on Badri Nullah District Swat. 3. Construction of flood protection structures upstream and downstream of Fizagat Park District Swat
