The Qld Govt this month introduced the State Development, Infrastructure and Planning (Red Tape Reduction) & Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2014. This Bill repeals the Wild Rivers Act 2005 (Qld) and proposes amendments to the EIS process for coordinated projects and the Environmental Protection Act 1994 (Qld). Last week EDO Qld made a submission on the Bill, concerning: * Amendments to EIS process for coordinated projects; * The new Impact Assessment Report process for coordinated projects; * The removal of the requirement for an EIS for broadscale clearing; * Public notification for additional information requests; * Wild Rivers repeal not met with an appropriate level of protection; and * New regulation-making power for SPA to be accredited under a Cth bilateral.
