The Queer Screen - Mardi Gras Film Festival team needs your help!! Read on to see how you can be involved in their festival trailer: The 2015 Mardi Gras Film Festival will be coming to screens around Sydney this February. Queer Screen is making a trailer to celebrate the theme ‘We love movies’. We’re inviting members of the LGBTI community — and the entertainment industry at large — to partake in this light-hearted project that champions the uniting power of cinema. The concept is simple: in a beautifully-lit, locked-off head and shoulders shot, participants will recite their all-time favourite cinema line. This might be a classic Bette Davis line (“But ya are, Blanche. Ya are in that chair!”) or modern movie moment (“You’re terrible, Muriel”). We’ve come up with a list of what we think are some of cinema’s most recited lines, but we’ll be inviting all participants to bring their own favorites along. Humorous or heartbreaking, old or new, spoken or screamed — we want to remind everyone of the way these moments are cherished, lived and relived as icons and inspiration to the queer community. We are looking for volunteers who can spare an hour to share a moment of passion and deliver a line to camera that will then make up the television, cinema and online ad campaign throughout January and February. All chosen participants will then be invited to join the opening night gala on February 19. All applicants will be notified by Wednesday, December 3. We are hoping to have a selection of participants that well-represent the diverse breadth of the LGBTI community — and of course some of their straight friends, too.
