The RIVER. Last Days in Cambodia I was thankfully able to spend my last few days In my favorite place in the world, At last my heart content, As I sat beside this beautiful bend On a river in Pursat province, I close my eyes as always you appear Dreaming of you hour after hour I could see us together once more The sunset came and lingered I would think only of you late into the night I climb into our bed to slumber In dreams I hold you once more For this is the place I wished to grow old and die This is the birthplace of the love of my life I died with you in my heart and mind When I lost you two years ago Now living without you is so impossible Now I must leave Soon to die I know not where I hasten to join the love of my life once more I do not know how much longer I can live without you The love of my life will always be here And if there is such a thing My spirit will dwell here with you forever At this river bend in Pursat David John Fletcher
