The RSPCA has launched an investigation after a young man dunked his puppy in freezing water as part of the ice bucket challenge. Shocking footage shows a teenage lad thrusting the black pup into a green bucket, reports the Sunday People. The dog can be seen squirming in the boy’s arms and then yelps as it is dunked headfirst into the water. As he performs the stunt, in a brief 19 second clip, the youth - who is believed to live in London - can be heard saying: “Here’s my dog and she’s doing the ice bucket challenge. “She wants to nominate all the others dogs here and all the cats as well, yeah.” He then asks the puppy “you ready?” before throwing her into the bucket, which stands on a small table placed in the road. As the camera cuts away you can hear the small table falling over and water splashing into the road. After viewing the footage, the RSPCA condemned the prank.A spokesman said: “The aim of the ice bucket challenge is to raise money and awareness for charity - this ‘stunt’ goes against everything it stands for. “Any responsible pet owner would be shocked by this.“It is likely that the puppy in the footage could have been caused distress, if not harm, and we are very concerned that others would think this is appropriate. “Causing unnecessary suffering to an animal is an offence under law and we would strongly urge people not to copy this video.”
