The Race of Champions will be an exhibition race of past WMRRA top - TopicsExpress

The Race of Champions will be an exhibition race of past WMRRA top 5 plate holders and class champions. I will require that riders have full WMRRA gear and that the bike will pass a standard WMRRA Tech inspection. Since this is not a parade lap, or a riding course marshal controlled event, and the riders will be for all intents and purposes racers; I am requiring that the rider and machinery be able to survive the normal conditions of a WMRRA race. Having said this, it is still an exhibition event, for fun, no prizes other then bragging rights. The Race of Champions will occur on Saturday, immediately after lunch with WMRRA staff presiding. We are also requiring transponders on the bikes, but will be authorizing Brandi to track and loan out for free what available transponders we have in the rental pool. If we run out transponders in the rental pool, I will ask the membership to help out their favorite past champion with a loaner. The reason for transponders, is that they help the starters and scoring track if a racer drops off the scope. If Elijah misses or discovers that someone has not gone by in a couple of laps, he can confirm with scoring if that is the case; and raise an alert with control and the corner workers that we need to find this person (if a corner worker has not already alerted on crash, mechanical, or returned to pits). If we completely run out of transponders, we will still allow the PoC person on the track; I will just need an additional helper for Elijah to manually track bikes. I am also allowing the PoC riders to do the morning practice sessions on Saturday, on normally allowed bikes with transponders. I would also encourage (but definitely never ask) current racers to offer their machinery to a past champ that they trust for the event.
