The Railway Man could have been an excellent film, but I felt it was very average, due to wooden acting by Nicole Kidman and to a lesser extent Colin Firth. its about a survivor of the River Kwai railway, and his wifes attempts at helping him come to terms with it. I recently read a brilliant book called the Forgotten Highlander by a chap in the same regiment. Excellent reading. Both men were Scots and suffered terrible punishments and transportations. the film skims the surface, but the actual story is good. Worth seeing as its got a vaguely happy and a moral ending.
