The Royal Family The deeper we travel into "grace," the more it amazes us. The further we explore "adoption," the more we become lost in wonder and awe. The words may be simple to say, but their meaning rises to unreachable heights: "In love He predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will" (Ephesians 1:4-5). M Does Paul realize to whom He is writing? Does Paul recall our family history? Does he remember who brought us up, and what kind of "sons" we were? Yes, for Paul himself reminds us, "You followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient" (Ephesians 2:2).
