The Rye Match Committee, along with Josh Moore, Adam Kirkwood and with the help from former Coach Ben Holmes can confirm, probably the best and biggest recruiting coup in the clubs history. On Friday night after 3 weeks of negotiations, we signed Ryan Mullet, centreman and Vermont Captian of the last 7 years, a 4 time Vermont B & F winner, 3 time League winner and multiple premiership player. Ryan was our number 1 target we wanted to sign, after recommendations from Ben and Josh. The good news was, if we were to get Ryan over the line, he wanted to bring 4 of his closest mates from Vermont with him, as they all wanted to play together and help create the winning culture and dynasty that they had accomplished at Vermont. So along with Ryan Mullet, we have secured 4 other outstanding recruits for the Rye FC. Simon Taylor, ex Hawthorn AFL Player and Ruckman, is just the help that Rhett Sutton our gun Ruckman and Captain has been crying out for. Dean Millhouse CHB, multiple EFL team of the year player and premiership player. Kris Bardon, on baller, who can also play back or forward, 2 time EFL league B & F winner and premiership player and Nathan Henley 6ft 1, winger or forward line player, who has also won a EFL league best and fairest award. These deals are very very rare and hard to pull off, but with Ryan wanting to play under Josh, and with Ben Holmes giving our club a tremendous recommendation to the Vermont boys, we were able to convince them, Rye was the club to continue their outstanding careers. With hard work on and off the field in 2015, we can look forward to a very promising year. I hope you all get behind our new coach, and we see all our supporters down the club in the pre season period, as there are some exciting times ahead for our players and supporters, so get on board and enjoy the journey.
