The SPLC keeps writing about sovereign citizens. I dont get that. In a republic the state is sovereign - which means in practice that the government bureaucrats and politicians are sovereign. People are disposable and entire ethnic groups/religions/cultures are replaced by others on a regular basis. On NPR yesterday they were talking about how the Irish, Italians and French Canadians had replaced one another in Rhode Island and now are being replaced by Dominicans. And they interviewed a leading Dominican media man who joked about how one day the Dominicans would be in charge and would then be replaced by some other immigrant group. On the other hand, in a monarchy there is a single sovereign - either of a country (land) or more traditionally of a people (nation). And there are not citizens - there are subjects. The idea of sovereign citizen seems like a contradiction to me. It sounds like a confused idea that would come out of an Enlightenment-based society. Too much egalitarian propaganda perhaps inevitably leads to such foolishness.
