Possibly this was influential to the Deltas Blues usage of Open Tunings in the Bottleneck Slide style like DGDGBD. The right hand fingerpicking style commonly used on banjo called Cotton Picking also influenced early rural guitar approaches. This method uses a thumb pick and two fingerpicks (index and middle). Often forgotten today, many Country Blues / Ragtime players also played banjo.
