The Salvation Army Singapore, Malaysia and Myanmar Responding to the General’s call to prayer every Thursday THQ Prayer Meeting: 7.30am to 8.30am Thursday, 17 October, 2013 INTERNATIONAL PRAYER FOCUS FOR THIS WEEK • Pray for General Andre and Commissioner Silvia Cox as they lead the international Army forward in God’s will. • The Philippines has suffered from a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that has left at least 100 people dead. Soldiers and rescuers are still scrambling to reach trapped survivors. Pray for those mourning loved ones, those who have lost everything, and for the rescuers and aid workers. • The Salvation Army Visayas Island Division has its HQ in Cebu City. Pray for all those involved with the disaster relief and for Salvationists who minister to others inspite of their own loss. • India, China, Vietnam and surrounding areas are struggling with the devastation left by some of the strongest typhoons ever recorded. Thank God for the small loss of life in India, who evacuated hundreds of thousands of people in anticipation of the destruction. Pray for those who suffered loss, and for rescuers and aid workers. EXPOSED. This week TSA is supporting EXPOSED – a global call to action against corruption, greed, secret deals, bribery and abuse of public influence. And it’s not just money lost – corruption kills. It is predicted that illegal tax evasion will be responsible for 5.6 million children dying in developing countries between 2000 and 2015. That’s some 1,000 children every day. Three million people have signed a global petition for integrity. President John F. Kennedy said “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil over good is that good men do nothing. “ • Pray against this terrible evil that affects so many vulnerable people every day. Cry out to God on behalf of the nations of our world that are locked into corrupt systems that begin from the governments and spiral downwards. As their inability will have worldwide financial and economic consequences, pray that those who can make decisions will vote for the people’s sake and not their own.
