The Saucon teachers attorney, Andrew Muir, says he suspects the district will be subjected to a FOUR- TO SIX-WEEK STRIKE followed by another strike later in the year if the contract teachers want isnt approved by the Aug. 21 deadline they have given the school board. Personally I dont think it would legally be possible for them to strike for that long/often because students must have 180 days of instruction by June 30...and theres no way the teachers are going to give up their weekends to make up the days missed because of *their* strike. I wish the Sec. of State could seek an injunction against them now. This is fearmongering of the most diabolical kind. And dont ever threaten a six-week strike and then say its about the kids. This whole situation honestly makes me feel sick, because I care about our community and really cant stomach the thought of what another protracted strike will do to it. It doesnt seem fair.
