The Scattering of the Popped Rice (ការប្រាជលាជ)Khmer Buddhist philosophy on analogy with funeral ceremony It is also key characteristic in Khmer traditional culture of cremation of the body because basket of popped rice is mixed with different things such as cotton, money, roast rice and so on which are casted or thrown away on the ground in messy state. This omen is a good manner of arousing the sense of urgency and agitation to living man to contemplate that “hairs, skin, limbs, sinew, bond and body of human beings who are born and passed away in this cyclic round of rebirth relentlessly and unlimitedly. It is like the popped rice to be slung on the ground.” Additionally, this action of spreading out the popped rice on the earth can make living beings to contemplate that our body is really vain. This body will be discarded and buried in the earth or burnt. There is nothing important but only bones remains for keeping in the urn. No sooner, these bones will be slung on the earth or disposed on the water. Moreover, these bones are like the roast rice to be thrown away on the earth.
