The Second Amendment as written in the U.S. Constitution states: - TopicsExpress

The Second Amendment as written in the U.S. Constitution states: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Each State is to own and run its own Military! This is to protect it from an over reaching Federal Government. There is not supposed to be a Federal standing military except for the Navy! If the need arises then the Federal Government can call on the States militias to go to war. This can only be funded for 2 years at the most! Then after that they are to return home. This is to protect the security of a free state! Also, NO ones right to bear arms is to be infringed on. (Sorry but this means at the Federal Level they cannot even prosecute criminals for owning guns. This is a States decision. In Texas the Law reads that a convicted felon can get his gun rights back after 5 years of being released from prison or being off of any probation or parole)
