The Sheriff and The Good Old Boys 1of 2 A local government insider - TopicsExpress

The Sheriff and The Good Old Boys 1of 2 A local government insider and a TV reporter shared some information with me before Alex Underwood took office as county sheriff, January 1, 2013. The conversation was about added security at the Roddey Building. Security costing county taxpayers an additional $30,000 a year. Why was I so interested? Roddey tells the local press the security is needed because Probate Court is held there. The probate judge, who is Roddey’s wife, needs protecting. Later, a TV reporter from Spartanburg , working with me on the Privileged Prisoner story, tells me that when he walked into Roddey’s office, July 2012, for an interview. The county supervisor holds up a recent edition of the News and Reporter, points to a letter to the editor, I had written, talking about wasting taxpayer’s money, paying for ineffective security. He points to the paper and tells the reporter, this is what I have to put up with. He then, according to the reporter, says the reason for the guard was to protect them from crazy people like me. It was around that time, I made the video of myself and several others walking past an empty security guard station at the back door, proving my point. I felt bad thinking I was costing the county 30k a year, felt bad, until I talked to my local government friend.
