The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) held a warrant to search the property of a Rogers Street residence for two deceased dogs. On October 10, 2013 at approximately 12:25 p.m. the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service assisted the SPCA with the search warrant. As a result of the search, two dogs were found deceased in a backyard shed of the Rogers Street residence. As a result of the investigation, 20 year old Brandon William Brown, of Rogers Street, 26 year old Ashley Fern Elder, of Rogers Street and 32 year old Michael David Joseph Elder, of Milburn Street, have all been arrested and each charged with cruelty to animals-failing to provide suitable and adequate food and causing unnecessary suffering to animals. All three were released from custody and will appear in court November 14, 2013.
