The Sovereign Lord Is Our God... But you, Sovereign LORD, help me for your name’s sake; out of the goodness of your love, deliver me. For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me. - Psa 109:21-22 Our God is Sovereign Lord: He is supreme and have unrestricted power and authority; Hes independent, Who alone is Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent. He is all-powerful, all-knowing and ever-present. • The psalmist acknowledged the reality of the wicked, the deceitful and the accusers with lying tongue, who also surrounded him with words of hatred, And fought against him without a cause. In return for his love they were his accusers, who spoke evil against his person. But the psalmist also acknowledged the reality of his God and gave himself to prayer for vengeance and recompense (Psa 109:2-4, 20). > The psalmist instead of being intimidated by his accusers, he prayed to the Sovereign LORD, to help him for His name’s sake; out of the goodness of His love, deliver him. For hes poor and needy, and his heart was wounded within him. • Friends, no matter what you face in life, be it the prosperity of the wicked, the exploits of the deceitful workers and accusations of the haters; You have a God who is Sovereign, and have promised to help you, deliver you and heal you. + He said to Jeremiah. Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me? (Jeremiah 32:27 NKJV) + Jeremiah earlier said to God, ‘Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You...You are great in counsel and mighty in work, for Your eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men, to give everyone according to his ways and according to the fruit of his doings. (Jeremiah 32:17, 19 NKJV) • This Sovereign God saw that all have sinned and under the control of satan through disobedience then He came as a son of man; In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth...He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:1,14,10-13 NKJV) > And Jesus says, God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (John 3:16-17 NKJV) • There is nothing we face in this world that is greater than sin, death and satan yet God loved us that He came and redeemed us from sin, satan and death. And Paul said, There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death...What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?...Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:1-2, 31-32, 37-39 NKJV) • The Lord Jesus appointed His disciples, and sent them before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go. Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves. Then the disciples returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” And Jesus said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:1-3, 17-20). • The Israelites used to call upon the Sovereign LORD, to help them for His name’s sake; For example they prayed saying, May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you; May He send you help from the sanctuary, And strengthen you out of Zion (Psalms 20:1-2 NKJV). + The name of the Sovereign Lord today is JESUS; And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.” So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” (Matthew 1:21-23 NKJV) + For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. (Isaiah 9:6-7 NKJV) • Jesus Christ of Nazareth know about all we will be facing in this world as His disciples and He said, These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 NKJV) > Jesus through His death on cross saved/delivered/redeemed us from sin, satan and death; Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. (Hebrews 2:14-15 NKJV) + He redeemed us from the curse of the law, for us to receive all blessings and the promised Spirit by faith - 2Cor 1:20-22. Gal 3:13-14. Eph 1:3-7. + He became our sin for us to become the righteousness of God in Him, thats to become Him on earth - 2Cor 5:20-21. 1Jn 4:17-19. + He is our everything before God the Father - 1Cor 1:30. 1Jn 2:1-2. + Finally, before Jesus left this world after His resurrection, He said to His disciples; Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth...Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:15-18 NKJV) (Matthew 28:18 NKJV) + Whatever comes your way in this year of vengeance and recompense, the name of Jesus will defend you and give you the victory; And your labour shall be rewarded in Jesus Name! Amen! (1Cor 15:57-58) In Everything, The Sovereign Lord Is Our God!
