The Springfield Mentality... The Hood Mentality... Unfortunately - TopicsExpress

The Springfield Mentality... The Hood Mentality... Unfortunately synonymous these days. Deny as you may... It is ever present. Its a vicious cycle that can, that will and that does control peoples lives. Emotional control dependent upon what someone says or how they look at you because you feel the right to be respected, and your interpretation of the word is just as disproportionate to the truth as the instability you deal with at home, but youre too blind to see it. Now, if I said this to a persons face in this city... I could almost guarantee getting mugged, shot or stabbed... Not necessarily by the person I spoke to, but by his homies who feel their boy was disrespected. Well... Let your BOY be a MAN and handle his own issues. If that means he walks away without a rebuttal and thinks about and reflects on life and may make a positive change... Good for him... But now youre threatened because he deals weed for you on the side, so now your profit is in jeopardy, making me a target. See what I mean... Respect doesnt exist in the streets... In the hood... Alliances do... But only for a short period based on loyalty, and income/profit. When those in positions to really help, refuse to acknowledge the problem, or just keep throwing money to organizations who post up a flyer to attract 1% of those they intended to off the street but 99% of those who are trying to fill up a student resume with stuff for a college application. When going out and communicating possibilities is pushed on someone who only has friends in high places, then those in the valley get overlooked again allowing the cycle to continue. When will you learn? What sense does it make that Springfield Community venues host more workshops, job fairs, etc to and for people from outside their own city? Then you say that the people in the city should know, should just walk in... Well, when they feel and witness elitism, they feel like they dont belong, and remove themselves from uncomfortable situations... How many fundraiser coordinators have you met that dont come across as snobby? Especially when all those involved in the event are from affluent communities who only venture to the city for Starbucks and their own events. Sorry for rambling... Just something on my mind at 12:40am
