The St. Charles History Museum, a 501c3 organization, is looking for an energetic, friendly, detail oriented individual to serve as their next Executive Director. The St. Charles History Museum is located 40 miles west of Chicago in the heart of downtown St. Charles, Illinois, a community of 32,000 residents and serves as the local history museum and archives for the community. The St. Charles History Museum was founded in 1933 by a group of civic minded volunteers and is housed in a restored 1928 Texaco Gas Station. Minimum Qualifications – A Bachelor’s Degree in History, Museum Studies or a closely related field is required. A Master’s Degree in History, Historical Administration, Museum Studies or Historic Preservation is preferred. Previous fundraising and grant writing experience and a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience working in a historical museum required. Compensation – Currently this position is a 40 hour a week, Tuesday through Saturday 8am-4pm, full time, at will position that requires some additional evening hours. The pay range is $37,000 - $42,000, dependent on candidate’s level of experience and education. During the first year of employment the candidate is eligible for six (6) sick days and ten (10) vacation days for use at the approval of the Board of Directors, there are also seven (7) paid holidays. There is no health insurance coverage or retirement benefits offered at this time.
