The Standard DC-3 Engine Change Tool !. The amazing thing is how good you become at scrounging around whichever airport you happen to be at when it decides to throw in the towel. This was in Arkansas, on our way to pickup a load of Chickens, we had stopped for cheap fuel, and on take off lost the main bearing. We were training a new copilot, and this was his first trip. The engine let go on upwind to crosswind, the chatter went like this positive rate-gear up, METO power....Climb power, Climb Checklist, Emergency Checklist, followed by a brief wide eyed stare from the right seat,after which he did a great job and around the patch we trundled.... The ironic thing was, when this happened our approved TBO was 1200 hours, this engine was a South African Airforce overhaul and its time was 1199, honest !, guess we got our $$ worth from that one. Also got the take off and landing on video , will dig that up soon.....
