The State must prosecute Baffour Gyan – Dr Nyaho Tamakloe September 19, 2014 A former Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe is urging the state to pursue the assault case meted out by Baffour Gyan against a Graphic reporter. Daniel Kenu was allegedly assaulted by former Black Stars striker, Baffour Gyan, a day before the team played its opening 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Uganda. The reporter subsequently initiated a court action against the former striker but on Friday, Mr Kenu dropped all assault charges against Baffour Gyan, on health and personal grounds. Earlier, the Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group Limited, Ken Ashigbey, vowed to pursue the case to its logical conclusion. It is unclear whether the Graphic Communications Group Limited would still proceed with the case. Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe said “I am so disappointed and disturbed” over the action by Daniel Kenu “because it eliminates the possibility of bringing to justice against the people who believe they are above the law.” He added that what happened was a display of arrogance and if the perpetrators are not punished, it leaves a dangerous precedence for this country. He said “the case is a criminal one and the perpetrators must be punished.” The reporter, Daniel Kenu “Even if the complainant no longer wishes to pursue the matter, I think the State has a vested interest in prosecuting Baffour Gyan and his accomplice. To me this is a criminal case,” he stated.
