The Statesman 30 Aug 2013 Kolkata, 29 August: International Human Rights Organisation (IHRO), an NGO with national focus and international network, has announced setting up of its first branch in the state. Issues related to human rights abuse in cities as well as in villages will be dealt with equal importance said Mr Nem Singh Premi, national chairman of IHRO, adding IHRO volunteers are working in some remote areas of the country. He, however, said he would like to see society change with time and was surprised rickshaws pulled by men still existed in the city. Members of IHRO stressed on fulfillment of social obligations by everyone as social beings and accountability on part of the organisation. They said any constructive criticism from the public was always welcome. Mr Kallol Majumdar, state president of IHRO, stressed on the need of the presence of the organisation in the state as there was rampant abuse of human rights everywhere.
