The Stewcook was founded as a harvest celebration for the community, a ritual and annual rite specific to our neighborhood which would elaborate over time. Now ten years old, we need to consider in it and other places how to make our community stronger. The lessons we need cannot be found in marketing or strategic plans but in examples of enduring communities around the world where villages like ours have shared and celebrated for thousands of years and even in the face of change and materialism, survive and transmit their special context for the human experience to new generations.
