The Story of Salah The History or story of Salah, the prayers in islam, is indeed very beautiful. To understand the value of Salah it is very important to study the background of it, and once you are familiar with the background Insha Allah you will appreciate the Salah more than you did before. As you may or may not know, the order of Salah was given to our beloved (saw) on the night of Isra wal Miraj. A special trip for Muhammad (saw) from Makkah to Al Aqsa then to the heavens in the company of Jibraeel. But before this trip, a number of incidents took place which made the prophet (saw) very very upset. To the extent that that year was called the Year of Grief. Khadijah (ra) the first wife of the prophet (saw) passed away, Abu Talib, the physical shield of the prophet against the Mushrikoon, passed away. The people of Taaif stoned the prophet (saw) till his slippers were filled with blood. All of the above incidents had a major impact on the feelings of our prophet (saw) so as a result Allah (swt) wanted to cheer him up to put it casually, he (swt) wanted to make him happy again and strengthen the faith of our beloved (saw) although it remained as strong as ever. One way in which Allah swt wanted to relieve the pain of Muhammad (saw) was through Salah. Can you believe it, for majority of us Salah is not a reliever of pain but rather, I seek refuge in Allah, a problem itself. Salah is not a burden but the remover of burdens, Salah doesnt upset you, it removes the upset feelings in your heart. Salah is very special because it came around at a special time and its special because it was personally given to the prophet (saw) in the heavens.
