The Strange Attitude of the J&K Government On 07-Oct-2014, at 4:57 am, Markandey Katju wrote: Dear Omar, I wish to bring something to your kind attention. Dr. Patel is a medical doctor in England known to me. He lives in England, where he has been living for several decades. He is specialized in Disaster Management and Disaster Medicine, and he has a team of medical and other personnel ( including his wife, who is also a doctor ), which does relief work in natural disasters all over the world and haas considerable experience in this. I had spoken about the disaster in Kashmir and requested his help, as the people of Kashmir had suffered terribly in the recent floods. He told me that he was willing to come to India in this connection with his team, at their own expense and help out. I contacted the Home Secretary, Border Management, Govt. of India, Mrs. Snehlata Kumar in Delhi, and spoke to her about this. She said she would contact the state government officials in the govt. of J&K about it and let me know. Later she telephoned me and said that she had contacted the state govt. officials and they said they needed no help. I am surprised at this attitude of the state govt. Here are people who are prepared to come to India and go to Kashmir to help, and that too at their own expense, and yet the state govt. of J&K are not showing any interest. I request you to consider this offer of help and let me know your view of this soon. I would have imagined that the people of Kashmir need all the help at this juncture. I suggest you contact Dr. Patel in this connection. I have copied his email id. [email protected] Regards Justice Katju
