Jizo shopping street, in Sugamo, is often referred to as “Harajuku for grannies.” It’s silver-haired, but heavy on style. With Japanese confectionaries, cafes offering traditional sweets, and high-quality souvenir and accessory shops, we recommend it to anyone looking for a slice of the “good ‘ol” life in Japan. Market fair days: The 4th, 14th and 24th of every month. (On market fair days the streets are lined with special stalls, and the shotengai sees bustling crowds.)
