{The Sunday Mail/weekdays record, printed this the 21/09/2014} Just an hour after the Ref result was known, David Cameron was outside Downing Street to announce that we had, apparently, not been voting about the future of Scotland at all but about why English laws need only English MPs to decide them. From then, the promises of Devo Max or Super Devo or Devo Plus or Home Rule or the next best thing to Federalism or whatever, looked more uncertain by the hour. Now, the analysts have not even started picking the bones out of the results yet but the three leaders in Westminster and their MPs should be under no illusion. Many Scots who voted No took them at their word and accepted in good faith their apparent willingness and ability to keep their promises of more powers. Scotland has spoken but if our faith is broken, if their word is worthless, they can be assured that we’ll speak again.
