The Supreme Court ruling in the Pollards Lessee case involved a conflict between the state of Alabama and the United States over partially inundated land bordering the Gulf of Mexico. The majority ruling read thusly: Alabama is, therefore, entitled to the sovereignty and jurisdiction over ALL THE TERRITORY within her limits...to maintain any other doctrine, is to deny that Alabama has been admitted into the union on an equal footing with the original states... All states since Tennessee was admitted in 1796, which would include Nevada, has included a clause affirming each states equal footing with other states in its enabling act. Therefore, the land contested by the Bundys and the Department of Interior Bureau of Land Management DOES NOT BELONG TO the federal government (as has been contended by the Bundys) but belongs to the STATE OF NEVADA (whom Cliven Bundy has agreed to pay for grazing rights).
