The T20 day night cricket tournament organized by Royal College, Panadura for the second time in succession for Upali Suraweera Challenge trophy was held in a glorious atmosphere on 3rd August 2013 at Panadura Esplanade with the participation of five teams comprising the past players of schools in the area; St.John’s, Mahanama, Sri Sumangala, St.Anthoney’s and host Royal form 8 am to 8 in the night. Chamara silva, Charitha Buddhika, Dilruwan Perera, Kawshal silva & Akila Dananjaya who are currently in the national squad were among those played and their participation added an extra competitiveness to the tournament. This tournament which was conducted under the patronage of Mr.Upali Suraweera, Managing Director of SS Packaging & UA Packaging was won by the past cricketers of Sri Sumangala College; Panadura beating the Past cricketers of Mahanama College, Panadura and the winners were rewarded with the prestigious Upali Suraweera Challenge trophy that was on offer for the winners of this championship. Whilst Panadura Super Fashion sponsored the players’ kits, batsman was the media sponsor of this tournament. In the final Kaushal Silva and Duilruwan Perera entertained the crowd with two superb knocks; 77 and 48 respectively whilst Chandana Pushpalal who took 4-12 and Buddhi Perera 3-10 impressed with the ball for the winners.
