The Tavis Smiley Foundation recently hosted a town hall meeting at The California Endowment in Los Angeles as part of the foundation’s four-year initiative, “Ending Poverty: America’s Silent Spaces”. The panel of health care professionals, researchers and community activists examined topics including the structural inequities associated with poor health and well-being, and the links between poverty and higher levels of cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other conditions.
