The Taylors Wrench... Just the sPoT for a tip or two about cYcling, or not. 03.10.14 ~ Lessons learned while pedalling the SRT. Hello there and top of the morning my aLveLo riders and friends. Going to be another lovely day, with lots of sun a shinning, and warm temps too. BOY ! they sure were a lot of people on the Swamp Rabbit Trail (SRT) yesterday. We put in at the old rail car, there at Furman off Duncan Chapel Road. And headed Northwest towards Travelers Rest (TR). Where life has taken hold of this small foothills town. People of all ages and sizes adorn the SRT. This was JWs first ride on the trail. Riding his Schwinn Tri, a 17.5 miles to TR and too Swamp Rabbit Café and back. Once crashed JW was more aware of his surroundings. Second crash he learned how not to go down a grassy hill. All Lessons Learned While Pedalling the SRT. It sadden me that they are those wanta be Lance Armstrong types, that think they dont need to exercise GOOD Trail Riding Manners. Passing walkers, bicyclists and kids without so much as a sound or UP ON YOUR LEFT. Many dont even slow down. WHO do these people think they are. As a cyclists for over 30 years I can tell you, fancy gear, fancy bike and tight clothes DONT make you a cyclists. If one of those wanta-bes kid got hit while on the trail, you can bet that he or she would be screaming the loudness. Come on peoples lets remember there are, and will be many using the trail. ITS NOT a RACE TRACK, its is a multi-use recreation trail. We dont need a few messing it uP for the rest of us. If you dont know trail manners and signage, Google it. Todays Cycling Tip: Please remember while riding on the streets, trails, or bike path; use good manners. Ring bell and/or let the person or persons that you are about to pass, know you are there. n-tun-2u
