The Tinman finally got a heart. When we hear about Hollywood its often punctuated with lots of self-aggrandizing efforts and big egos, but actress Blake Lively seems determined to turn that on its head. I stumbled across her new web site -- well, business / quality of life preservation movement / philanthropic effort, all rolled into one -- and it has gorgeous aesthetics, beautifully plainspoken words, heartfelt intentions, and I suspect a shot at popularizing homespun values in an unlikely place. I kind of fell in love with it, actually, and while theres not much there yet (particularly in the way of the kind of community/storytelling they are looking to build), what is there is grounded by wonderful intentions. Take a moment to read the section about the artisans they are working with to understand the real thread of soul that binds this together. Everything is infused with great purpose. Lively is one celebrity who seems invested in using the currency of her celebrity to do some really good things. By all means, watch the brief video on the front page that sets the table. Its like mainlining espresso for the soul, minus the cafeine shakes ;) What may seem like too many focal points to wrap your arms around, or to be a practical/sustainable business model, Blakes letter and the Us section do a great job of explaining the intent, and it kind of rocks. I generally feel like Im going to scream everytime I go to the store and see every darned print rag plastered with pictures of the Kardashians self-infatuated pursuits. This is about as far in the other direction from that as you could possibly imagine, and just way too good not to share. Have a peek and see if youre not as captivated by it as Ive been ... preserve.us/ Preserve.us is also here on Facebook ... https://facebook/preserve
