The Title Box Oftentimes, we strive to achieve or acquire - TopicsExpress

The Title Box Oftentimes, we strive to achieve or acquire certain milestones in our lives and the reward of accomplishing our goals is the title provided to us at the end of our journey: graduate, doctor, wife, husband, athlete, teacher, pastor, guru, friend. While these titles are harmless in and of themselves, they can create trappings which can be detrimental to our growth. How? #1: We can become too attached to the title and operate from a place of superior towards those who are title-less. It can become a hinderance when people are unable to relate to us based on the self-elevated stance that we project. While reverance for your position (i.e. pastor, leader, teacher) should be granted---there is a thin line between authority and arrogance. If others are repelled from you instead of attracted to you---this may be a sign that you are walking in arrogance and not authority. Love ATTRACTS! Another aspect of titles is the inability to operate OUTSIDE of said title. When the titles we hold begin to limit our ability to grow emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually, financially--then our titles lock us inside of a BOX. This creates another trap-because we are unable to advance our thinking outside of the title box and others are unable to SEE us outside of the title box. (i.e. A wisdom teacher that is unable to seek wisdom and advice or healing from scarred places because he/she is stuck in the box of having ALL the answers. Therefore the teacher is unable to go to anyone for help because they are afraid to be viewed as the SEEKER instead of the one being SOUGHT!--Let that sink in a moment!) So, what can I do to prevent this? There are numerous titles we all have--some earned, some naturally provided, others perceived--yet we must remain neutral and remain connected to the SELF that existed before the title--for the SELF is who will remain after the title is removed. Being neutral prevents attachment to the title--because we become unwavering in our self-value regardless of the titles bestowed upon us (or lack thereof). So, I challenge you--to remember and connect with the YOU who existed before you became mother, wife, teacher, pastor, praise dancer, minister. Once we reconnect with the SELF--the titles will be what we DO not WHO WE ARE--and well be FREE to grow beyond the BOX! Copyright 2014 Inner Seeds of Pure, LLC
