The Tonka toys are here! This is day one in the creation of a beautiful new events space next to the Visitor Center, replacing a giant, redundant bus parking area. When its finished, there will be a new Student Pavilion, a broad lawn, new shade trees, and two picnic areas. The park hasnt had a good space for group activities at the Visitor Center before. The new space, called the Mini-Parade (smaller than the historic Grand Parade!) will be in daily use for visitors, school groups and other groups, and for events like Washingtons Birthday Weekend, the Revolutionary Run and the Fourth of July community picnic. Goodbye asphalt, hello vibrant activity!
