The Torn Veil. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. Matthew 27:51. This is no small miracle - the tearing of such a thick veil - but it was not intended merely as a display of power. It was a great object lesson for us. The old law was put aside. When Jesus died, the sacrifices were all fulfilled in Him. The tearing also revealed all the hidden things of the old system. The mercy seat could now be seen, and Gods glory gleamed above it. Access to God is now available to every believer in Christ Jesus. This not one small peephole, through which we may peer at the mercy seat.
