The Tower of London built in 1070 AD. William the Conqueror built the mighty "White Tower" to dominate the skyline. The London Tower has been used as a citadel to defend OR command the city, a royal palace, and a prison for dangerous criminals. People were tortured in the dungeons here! For several hundred years it was a zoo where exotic animals were kept. For the last TWO hundred years it has been a tourist attraction for the common English people, foreign kings and queens, and famous people. It is located on the River Thymes, right next to the London Tower Bridge.
