The Town of Hampstead has issued a preventative boil-water advisory The Town of Hampstead does water quality testing on regular basis. The most recent test on one water sample taken at the Public Works tap shows that the water quality is not up to our usual high standards. As the laboratory is closed for the weekend, we cannot re-test the water to ensure that there were no errors made. Therefore as a precautionary measure, the Town is advising residents to boil their drinking water for at least a minute until further notice. A full test will be carried out on Monday and you will be informed thereafter. Non-boiled water can also be used for hygiene, such as taking showers, or for other household purposes, such as washing clothes. Dishes can be washed in hot water, and need to be dried thoroughly. Drinking the water, washing or preparing food, brushing teeth or making ice is not recommended. The Town will advise when the situation has returned to normal.
