Algester state LNP MP Anthony Shorten wants to close the turn-off to reduce confusion for northbound motorists, but the TWU said it would cause chaos. “If the ramp closes, large B-double trucks would be forced to channel under Beaudesert Rd, causing chaos on Browns Plains Rd and gridlock at a major ­intersection,” TWU spokesman Graham Garrett said. “It’s a bad decision made with no proper consultation with the people who use the road or the transport ­industry.” Mr Shorten did not ­respond to the specific concerns of the TWU but said he had sought feedback from the community.
