Algester state LNP MP Anthony Shorten wants to close the turn-off to reduce confusion for northbound motorists, but the TWU said it would cause chaos. “If the ramp closes, large B-double trucks would be forced to channel under Beaudesert Rd, causing chaos on Browns Plains Rd and gridlock at a major intersection,” TWU spokesman Graham Garrett said. “It’s a bad decision made with no proper consultation with the people who use the road or the transport industry.” Mr Shorten did not respond to the specific concerns of the TWU but said he had sought feedback from the community.
