The Transportation Industry, the business of transporting goods, - TopicsExpress

The Transportation Industry, the business of transporting goods, is not a Mickey Mouse game. It is a very serious business. Only a fool would take the seriousness of it lightly. It is dangerous and it’s always risky. It’s not meant for the lighthearted. By the very nature of the business, there are bound to be accidents from things that go wrong. Sometimes the things that go wrong aren’t actually things at all, sometimes the things that go wrong are actually men. Sometimes men make mistakes, it happens all the time. Everybody knows that. If you want stuff in your grocery store, if you want gasoline delivered to your favorite gas-station, and diesel oil for those big trucks, if you want stuff made from plastic, if you want to drive the freeways or take the train, subway or bus, if you like rubber tires instead of wood, then praise be to the transportation boys! And praise be to the pavement, the sidewalks and the curbs. Praise be to the airwaves, shipping lanes, bus routes, trains, pipes, subways and what have you. I want all my goods brought close to me. I don’t want to drive to Saskatchewan to buy squash! Nor do I want to travel to St John’s Newfoundland for the catch of the day, usually herring or cod. I prefer my cod boxed and frozen, sitting on a shelf, in a freezer at Wal-Mart. The trick is to get it home before it thaws and put it in another freezer. Praise be to the freezer and all it stands for. Praise be to the big box stores, praise be to my local bakery. Praise be to Ford, GM and Chrysler, for without them where would we be? Praise be to the men and women that motor on down our tracks and our highways bringing things to me. And blessed be me for enjoying the pleasures they bring and never doubting the method. If you want stuff delivered to your doorstep, or within a short walking distance or a short drive, you gotta put up with some things until the stuff arrives. Things happen during the process of getting stuff to within our reach. The amount of goods being transported on any given day is staggering. Hundreds of thousands or millions or billions of tons being transported every day. It’s almost enough to shake our world, the ground beneath our feet. Yet we feel, not even a tremble, unless something goes wrong. Praise all, that need be praised, to get my goods to me! Sincerely, Tommy D_____ Professor of Smozology youtu.be/6acPX_00M9Q
