The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo At the end of the U.S.-Mexican - TopicsExpress

The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo At the end of the U.S.-Mexican War in 1848 Mexico lost half its territory to the United States. The U. S. paid 15,000,000 for it under the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. This treaty also granted U.S. citizenship to the Californios, and, in principal, the right to keep their ranchos. The United States broke the treaty when they failed to continue to land grab and not grant U.S. citizenship to those already living in those lands. California, New Mexico and other states within the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo now belong to Mexico.
