The Tribune building in 1870 on the S.E. corner of Dearborn and Madison. They started with one room in a building on the S.W. corner of Lake and LaSalle in 1847. Two years later found them in a room above Greys Grocery Store on the N.W. corner of Clark and Lake. Then a year later the office was moved to 173 Lake street until 1852 when they occupied 53 Clark street. In 1869 the prosperous newspaper bought this new building made of Joliet marble for $225,000 and published the newspaper here until it burnt in the Great Fire.
