The True Church: Incarnational (In the Flesh -- Matt 25:31-46) Jesus came to earth to heal the lonely, lost, sick, discouraged, hungry, cold, beaten, and bruised. He brought life and wholeness and true hope for everyone, and He is the ONLY way. It is amazing how unpopular that message is today. Jesus did the work needed for hope, but then He left us to be His hands and feet on the earth, to share the Good News. When we make a personal decision for Christ, our life is transformed and we are to live differently. We seem to have a retreat mentality and live in fear, greed and selfishness. We SHOULD have an ADVANCE mentality, because we are to be Christ’s physical presence in people’s lives. We need to stop thinking that we can’t do it because we know God and He empowers us to do it. The Church should take care not to expect the government to do what it should do. We seem to like the broken government system better than Biblical admonition. It is easier to throw money at a situation than it is to use our time and money to become His hands and feet. If we don’t give people Jesus, they are starving. Everyone’s greatest need is the gospel. If they need food, feed them AND give them the gospel. Suggested application: -- Share God’s love to someone who needs it this week. -- Develop the habit of asking how Jesus sees the person in front of you, and help you to see them the same way. -- Be ready to help legitimate needs and be generous. Who do you need to share a possession or ability with? -- Pray for wisdom and act on it in the moment.
