The Tuesday Night Dinner Crew is back with a couple entries! Mosaic Composition Analysis Single Hop Ale from Ninkasi presents a hazy soft golden pour with no head or lacing. The nose is subtle floral hops and the flavor follows that same path. The mouth picks up very mild tangerine and lemon. This is a mild pale ale with enough flavor to be satisfying to regular pale fans but enticing to beer palates who lean toward the lager families. Excellent hot day beer. Jalapeño Imperial IPA from Alaskan is a reddish amber pour producing generous head which produced the expected heavy lacing from that level of barm. The nose suggests spilling beer into your bag of jalapeño potato chips, but the first taste adds a little more smoke, as though one in a hundred of the peppers had been a chipotle. The big IPA has a sweet backbone behind the peppers, which are not spicy or overbearingly peppery. Even our tasters who feared spiciness found this to be a pleasant surprise. We plan to drink more soon, before the weather makes this too heavy to enjoy in the evenings. Snow is in the air this April! Enjoy!
