The UCSD Club Baseball team played their first home series of the year this past weekend against the Trojans of USC. The Tritons bats were alive once again in the first game as they used a five run second inning to propel themselves to a 12-5 victory over the Trojans. Newcomer Andrew Hinkle, Jack Lombardi, Simon Barrera, and Tommy Valles all doubled and singled for the Tritons in the victory. In the second game of the double header the starting pitcher Marc Lopez sent the Tritons off to a strong start allowing one run over 4 innings while striking out six. Errors and bad performance at the plate plagued the Tritons from that point on. The Tritons committed three errors while walking two in the fifth inning which allowed the Trojans to jump out 8-1 lead. Despite a 10 strikeout day for the Triton bats and a five run seventh inning rally the Tritons fell to the Trojans 8-6. The UCSD Club Baseball team welcomes Arizona State University to town this Sunday for a two game series. Game times will be at 9am and 12pm at Crawford High School located at 4191 Colts Way, San Diego, CA 92115. Come out and show your support! We would also like to thank our Vice President Kevin Lou for all of his hard work this year. He is doing a great job of handling the day to day behind the scene operations for the club baseball team. Your hard work is appreciated!
